Hello.

Hi Steve,
A suggestion would be to use the entered date. The date does not have to be for example, today's date. You can enter any date you like and is especially useful if you are posting historical stuff. So, simply use random dates (say a week apart) to force the correct alphabetical sort. If you need insert another entry in between existing entries, simply use a date for that falls in between the two dates that are currently exiting.

Cheers,
Glynn

HI,

EXCELLENT.

I DID NOT REALISE I COULD MANUALLY ENTER A DATE FOR THAT FIELD. I WILL TRY IT BUT IT LOOKS DOABLE.

I WAS COMING TO THE CONCLUSION THE DATES OF MY TRIPS ( WHICH ARE ENTERED ON MOST OF MY BLOG ENTRIES ) WOULD BE THE IDEAL SOLUTION BUT THAT WOUD NEED A NEW COLUMN ON TP.

THANKS
STEVE

HI,

THAT WORKS FINE BUT THE DEFAULT SORTS BY LATEST ENTRY FIRST WHEN IT LOOKS BETTER FOR MY BLOG TO HAVE OLDEST FIRST.

DO YOU KNOW OF A WAY TO DO THAT?

THANKS.

STEVE

Hi,,

After my last post I went to bed & just had to get up again and try something. Unfortunately it did not work.

In settings I changed the 'Sort blog' option to oldest first.

My table of contents still defaults to newest first. In fact I do not see anywhere that it is sorting by oldest.

All my blogs are my trips so I have finally realised that all I need is to sort by the date of the start of a trip. No thought required on my part to make use of your suggestion. and no action needed on the part of anyone viewing my blogs. Just enter the same date in 2 places.

so - to get around the issue, I will go back to your suggestion in it's totality. A bit more work on my part but the result will look a lot tidier.

I notices someone else's blog had a similar problem with the naming convention. If I come across him again I will forward your most excellent idea.

If you come up with anything better, please let me know.

Have a great 2014

Steve

Well - that took a while.

My Table of contents now sorts as I want it, without having to click anywhere first.

so - it's good, for now. Don't quite see yet how it will work when I add entries.

In Passing - I accidentally find out what affect the sort blog setting was having. And I now see where the idea of 'BLOG PAGES' comes in.
I clicked on the Heading for MY BLOG - up popped a warning that the "Blog is sorting chronologically".
I could see 5 of my blogs all on the same sheet ( or page as I now know ). and that I have 3 Pages. Of course these are not sorting well for me but I would never want to look at 5 blogs at one time anyway.

So - I have learned a few things today.

and I guess this thread is finished, but it would still be nice to have the ability to be able to use the dates entered in the travel dates section for sorting.

Thanks
