Just checked the website out, it's a great help
Most flights are round trip to Bangkok. Bangkok is cheaper than some beach areas. (City transportation is cheap and well organized.) Young tourists who want to be around other young tourists include Koh Phangan on their must see list.
You should figure out a budget so you know how much you can afford for hotel, food and other expenses each day. After knowing how much you can allot to hotel expenses then you can ask for hotel advice. In Bangkok many young tourists often head to the Khao San Road area. Other tourists old enough to drink may choose different areas with more adult nightlife available; like the Sukhumvit Nana area. (Skytrain available in this Nana/Asoke area.)
Spend your last couple nights back in Bangkok before you fly home. Do your final shopping, take some tours, etc. Look over a travel guide for some help for "how to get from here to there" type questions. Also for scams, currency and visa advice. Even a simple Google check can help.
With UK passport and staying under 30 days with round-trip plane ticket you qualify for a free Visa Exemption stamp you get at the airport.
Maybe try to fit in some other parts of Thailand that are not beach areas if you have time. Perhaps find some time for Northern Thailand.
When you show up determines the available weather (more or less heat or rain) and affects some of the hotel prices too.
Good luck.

Great help thanks a lot
My plan was to spend 3 days in Bangkok and get a ferry over to ko Tao,
I'm pretty much going to take it from there.
Would you recommend any good hostels to go in Bangkok ?
Any time you ask for hotels on any forum also include your price range and roughly what neighborhood/area you want to stay in. Your research on Bangkok should give you some sort of idea where in Bangkok to stay. Bangkok is a big city! Think it is about the same size as London.
Lub D Hostel. Two locations not that far from the Skytrain.
Three small hotels Khao San Road area.
Once you leave Bangkok not too many hostels available but guest houses and small private hotels about the same price.
Thanks bro helped a lot
Just one more question I'm booking my flight Friday, what the best airport to fly into Bangkok ?
In the middle of feb, traveling would be interesting and filled with joy. One can now make the trip pleasurable one.
