Looking at going to Aus but am Scared to do it alone

Hi,

Hey Lauren
It's completely natural to be scared about a big life adjustment like this, even if it is only temporary. I think the best way to help you gain the confidence to do it is to really focus on the reasons why you want to do it.
I've gone on many trips by myself and they've all turned out amazing. I'm actually leaving for my next trip tomorrow (to Sri Lanka then Australia on a WHV) and going solo. Aus is a great place to go alone as there are soooo many people in the same boat as you and all wanting to make friends.
Do you plan to stay in hostels?? That's a great way to meet others.
O.J.

Hi,

I really dont know I have friends in Bendigo but its not the most exciting place.
I dont really know how to go about it

Thanks

Well I'd say start off with doing some research into the places you'd prefer, if Bendigo is too small for you. Maybe somewhere like Melbourne, Sydney, Perth or around the Sunshine Coast; they're the popular ones. It all depends what you want from your trip.
Do you know what kind of work you want to do whilst over there? That's always a good thing to think about as you can prepare yourself and find out where's the best areas close to what you want to do.
Getting the Visa is simple - just go onto the official site: www.immi.gov.au/visas As long as you fit the requirements then it's easy to get it online.

Hi,

I want to do as much as I can. The only reason I say Bendigo is because I would have somewhere to stay.

I really dont care what work I do I just want some money while Im over there.

I was thinking of going through STA travel.

Thanks

OJ - Have fun on this next trip! I've friends that just did Sri Lanka & Oz solo - great feedback from them.

Lauren - I'm going to second what he's said already. I think it's important to think about what you want to get out of the trip. Going to Bendigo could be great, but if it's not going to meet what you're looking for, I'd opt for somewhere else. It might be worth planning to travel around the country for a few weeks before you commit to settling somewhere for work as well. You'll know where you like, and where you don't.

I've been travelling solo for 7.5 months now - don't worry about being solo, you won't be alone for long. Hostels are a great place to meet people, or even just doing different activities. I'm not really an advocate for tours, but it could be an option to ease yourself into solo travel as well, if you're really concerned about taking that leap.

Hope that helps.

Hi Lauren

When are you thinking of going?

Jay

Hi Jay,

I want to do Melbourne Sydney Byron Bay Cairns and Darwin Perth.

Are you thinking if going?? X

Hey

Yes I am planning to go around end of May beginning of June, I don't have an exact date yet. I will also be going alone and plan to travel the east cost on a WHV stopping off for work as needed. x

I was thinking June too. Travel a bit fir the first few months then get a job.
Where would you want to get a job. X
