You can see HI Toronto on a map (scroll right down) - it's at 76 Church Street
What makes a hostel good for a pregnant female specifically? We travelled while my wife was pregnant and I don't recall any specific things that we looked for in accommodation. I guess the only thing I could think of is that you might want to have a private room with a bathroom in case morning sickness is an issue. In which case it looks like has that option.
Can't really help on the other questions, but a bit of googling will surely bring up the answers.

1.) The Toronto HI is downtown, only a few blocks east of the Financial District.
2.) I'm not aware of any hostels in the Financial District. In any case that neighbourhood is kinda boring.
3.) Planet Traveler is fine. It's located in a great neighbourhood, but much further from the Financial District than the Toronto HI.
4.) Kensington Market is not difficult to find, it's one of the most famous places in Toronto. Planet Traveler is located right beside it.
