Go talk to the embassy (Spanish and/or your own) and confirm what your visa allows and doesn't allow. Please note that when you don't specify your nationality it limits our ability to help you.
As with almost all Visa questions on this forum you fail to give the single most important piece of information: Your nationality.
That said, it's up to you to monitor your own Visa. "Long stay" is a meaningless term, there must be a period of eligibility on the Visa, there must be an expiration date. Also - depending once again on your nationality - just because you have a Visa for Spain does not mean you're automatically allowed entrance into the UK.
