Hello all!
Suggest to try some of Vietnam's gorgeous beaches rather than spend the time to get those in Thailand. Go on the Internet to see which ones appeal to you. Then fly from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap (the Angkor temples) on Vietnam Airlines. Tickets often are cheaper if you buy in Vietnam. From Siem Reap, fly to Bangkok's Don Mueang airport (DMK) on Thai AirAsia. The fares are reasonable. There are cheap flights from both Bangkok airports (DMK and BKK) to Chiang Mai (CNX). In Siem Reap, buy the three-day Angkor pass, which lets you in three days out of seven. You'll need at least three days to see the best temples. So four days in Siem Reap would be great. I suggest at least 10 days in Vietnam; and the rest in Thailand. You'll love the food in all three countries. In Ho Chi Minh City, I recommend Quan Ngon 138, opposite the Reunification Palace. Try "Goi Ngo Sen Tom Thit," or lotus root salad with shrimp and pork. Yummy!
