jobless

Hi,

It's always easier to find work when you are already in the country - can have local contact information, etc. and actually go in for interviews. You're also able to deliver résumés in person as opposed to being an anonymous person applying for work. If money is really tight and that's your concern you could try to buy yourself some time to look for paid work with workaways or helpx or other things until you get your feet under you and make some local connections. I can't comment on the fruit picking work as I've yet to try it personally, but I hope that helps!

Cheers.

It should definitely be easier to find fruit picking work if you're right there and can start the same week. The website has a PDF with extensive information on which specific regions have what kind of work available at what specific times of the year. Being in one of those regions a little before the peak time hits should (from what I hear, no personal experience) be a very good way to actually find this type of work.

Thanks guys, youve both been really helpful we've got a bit of money to tide us over until work hopefully comes, but the working for accommodation sounds a great idea in case we get stuck.

So we've got flights booked for brisbane for the 15th march, any news on legit farm/fruit picking jobs in the area would be greatly appreciated! or if anyone has any contacts, ive done thorough searches online and not had much luck
