Flights to Central America from UK

Hello Wonderful Travellers,

Your best bet would be to take Delta Air Lines nonstop from Manchester to Atlanta, spend two or three days in Atlanta, then fly nonstop to Belize City. Suggest you return from Panama City, Panama, to Manchester on Delta, with connections in ATL and JFK. The fare should be under 640 GBP, which is reasonable. While in Atlanta, you could visit the Georgia Aquarium, the world's largest. It's next to the World of Coca-Cola; and within walking distance to CNN Center and the new National Center for Civil and Human Rights (all at Centennial Olympic Park). The new street car connects Centennial Olympic Park with the Martin Luther King Jr. national historic site. Rides on the street car, which began operating last month, are free until the end of March. Atlanta has excellent public transportation, allowing you quick access from Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

Thank you for a quick response!
Am hoping to get there in one go, but that's not possible then?
Also I am quite in love with the countryside so may not enjoy the city sites except for the National Center for Civil and Human Rights, its a once in a lifetime thing though stopping over, I may love it I guess,
Would be fun to do the Free rides on the street cars and soak up the character of the city.
Thank you!
Keep the ideas for cheap flights coming.

If you're flying from Manchester, there's no avoiding a long layover in Atlanta to connect to your flight to Belize City. So you might as well relax for a day or two in Atlanta and adjust to the time change. The airfare also will be a tad less with a stopover. But that will be more than offset by the cost of a hotel/motel room. For now, there is only one street car; and the route is short. But MARTA trains and buses can take you around the city. A day or two in Atlanta is peachy, as you'll discover. Since you plan to fly in early March, I suggest buying your ticket soon, otherwise the fare will be higher. Buying sooner rather than later also could help defray the cost of accommodations, should you decide to stopover in Atlanta. If you decide against it, you can always snooze at the airport before catching your flight to Belize. Hope this helps.

You could also consider flying to Cancún (via, or directly from) London Heathrow (or again Atlanta) for a bit less still than flying to Belize City. It's 4.5 hours by bus from there to to Belizean border, which, depending on where in the country you're going to be volunteering, might be acceptable. (Also, I see that both Thomas Cook and Thomson have charter flights directly from Manchester to Cancún, which might offer possibilities, maybe...)

Getting from South America to Belize is surprisingly costly (most international flights to there come from the USA), so I don't think the Brazil option you originally mentioned would be realistic.
