I've heard from my cousin who just got back from travelling Oz that there are loads of different kinds of mining jobs you can do there. I'm goin with a Working Visa so does anyone know if there are and where I can find them?

Yes there is loads of work out in WA, and incredibly well paid too. You may want to do a search for mining companies on the net, but I think your best bet will be to get out to Perth and start asking around. You may also want to contact the WA office here in London (Australia House), they may have some advice. You should be able to find thier contact details here: www.migration.wa.gov.au

How long are u planning to stay?? And where r u from?? Most of the mining jobs are up in northwest WA around Headland / Karratha way although there r a few down South of Perthand run 3 weeks on 1 weeks off or round about shifts that fly in and out of Perth. Its also not as easy to get on the mines as some ppl think altough there is alot of work they are really highly payed so are super competitive and unless u have a trade such as desial mechanic or boiler maker u might struggle if thats the sort of work u r interested in doing plus ppl doing this sort of work they may be interested in ppl who would be more perminent. That said u might have a good chance getting a job as a cleaner or a kitchenhand which is still well payed and might be betta suited to casual work. Plus all mining companies will make u take a drug test while applying if thats a problem. I am not the full bottle on working on the mines but know a few ppl who have done it and some that trying to get up there.

Im stayin for a year. Possibly 2 if i decide to fruit pick for 3 months! Im travellin the USA first for a couple of months then wen I land in Sydney im plannin to head West straight away and try n find sum work for a few months before moving on.
I've noticed that you can do courses In Fork Lift Truck driving over there which im considering doing as there seems to be a lot of jobs for them. Also. Dumper Truck driving really appeals to me. Am I being stupid thinking I can do this? Can I just pay to learn the skill then get a job with it?
Hi jonboy 18, i would expect that a diesel mechanic would earn around $100k a year and there is plenty of work around for them especially around Kalgoolie and up north. Look on www.seek.com.au.
BentBanana, if you got ypu forklift ticket in Perth, it would be easy to find casual short term work though a recrutment agency. And i would say that u would just work in the Perth area rather than on the mines. I am not sure what kind of licence you need to drive the big dump trucks the companys might provide there own training for that but again it might be hard to get trained up for these and then only work for a few months. I think they also prefer women for these as they r apprently less likely to race each other and crash. I would presonally just try with the forklift unless u wanna stay for a long time it would probly be easier in the short term. Hope that helps
Hey guys, so glad i stumbled upon this site. I am a female, moving to perth this june and really wanting to do a bit of truck driving. Would love any and all advice available from you guys. I am an australian citizen (born there) currently living in florida, with a full NZ drivers licence - what do i need to do to get licenced for this sort of work. I know i can do it, im not worried about my abilities........its just getting organised is always a pain. any help?
There are so many job in perth, in every industry, just buy a newspaper when you arrive, and pick what you want to do. Plenty of factory labouring work, forklift driving, truck driving, hospitality. Whatever you want really!
We can't get enough people at work, trying to start a night shift because of the amount of work on, but can't find the people to do it!
I was making $35 an hour, 50+ hours a week in perth as a boilermaker. Qualifications are needed for that sort of money in the city though. You can still make mid $20s an hour as a factory hand.
