Hi,
In canada there are lots of car hiring options, they can definitely help you but the thing is that form where are you want to start???Think of it and you will have more options to choose...
The dropoff charge alone will be equal to the value of small used car, are you aware how far it is from Edmonton to Toronto?
Yes i am.
Are you suggesting it would be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand car... wont that be more complicated... ie. selling it in a state that it wasnt registered in.... insurance, etc
....im also under 25 so that increases the charge of car hire!
How much do National or Budget want for a one way trip?
Hey I am in the same situation, planning a trip across Canada and trying to find out information on renting a car for N drivers, I was just wondering if you figured out renting a car and where you found the best deal??
I have run the numbers for several TP members that wanted to tour the US for 1month up to 6 months. My basic recommendation is to rent if you are here for 6 weeks or less. More than 6 weeks it statrs to make sense to buy a vehicle and then sell it when your adventure is over. The under 25 crowd really get dinged when they rent. The drop off charges are substantial as well. I was quoted over $3K by National to rent in NYC and leaving it in LAX. Add the daily rental rate for under 25 and it was $10K to rent for 90 days and leave it in LA. I suggested buying, then selling for that TP member. Buy a $3K Dodge Caravan, give it away and be money ahead vs renting.
I help members that come to Vegas for their US adventure. I don't know Canadian laws, but t would be worth checking out the ins/outs of buying/selling a vehicle in Canada.
Find out what , l,, ,quote for your upcoming trip. Then you will have good info on the rent vs buy decision.
Good luck with your planning.
