I am considering doing this as otherwise it adds more money onto flights.

I like the (also in 30 for 30L). I now use the smaller North Face Recon 30L pack and like it very much too. The mesh back is extremely comfortable in warm climates, and these packs are extremely well made and rugged at fairly good prices. I'm not sure if these are available outside of North America. Lowest price I found for the Overhaul 40 is US$111.
