it will be hot and wet during october.
and with regards to meeting up,im sure you will meet many people and make many friends on your travels,i can understand peoples apprehension towards travelling alone but i can honestly say its the best thing i ever did,i always meet new people, make new friends and visit new places.
my only regret is that i didnt do it sooner,i first visited thailand in may 2008 (where i met my friend and his mrs on there asian travels)
everytime since ive been back ive travelle alone and had the times of my life,do what you want when you want.
i will be there for trip number 6 in 3 weeks time
everyone will have there own take any where to go/places to visit etc.
but for me i like a mix of crazy hedonism peppeered with remote serenity, thats why i always start my trip in bangkok 2-3 nights then head to an island somewhere, gulfside or andaman, both great in there own way, then if i get bored i can always head to phuket or if im gulf side ko samui, islands which have it all.
before finishing my trip with 1 or 2 nights in bangkok.
i can reccommend, koh phi phi,koh lanta,ko samui but all depends what your looking for.
happy travels..

If you explore up north, you might encounter some cool evenings. But, unless you are huge, suitable clothing is available, if required, quite cheaply.

If you take a long sleeve shirt or very thin jacket you can use it on a plane, train or bus when the A/C is up high. Have at least one pair of long pants, even if you only use it on the plane. There may be a time when you need some long pants hiking through brush or to keep you from getting more sunburned. Even riding a long time on an open boat can sunburn your legs pretty good.
Of course you can pick up some stuff in Thailand if you happen to discover you need something you didn't bring. I do see some people get on planes nowadays with shower shoes and shorts even leaving from northern cities in the US, spring and fall. I always have long pants, long sleeve shirts and a jacket when I travel. No telling where I might end up at anyway. I never go anywhere without my favorite ball caps to keep the sun and rain off of my face.
Good luck
Thanks for the info, I was thinking of bringing a windbreaker and one pair of pants, im from Florida so im used to the humidity and heat, ill be fine im sure.
The friend part is all me, I always end up making new friends

what are you into/your interests etc?
culture? scenery? beaches? nightlife?
Everything, I can care less about the nightlife, I come from the nightlife capital, Miami Beach Florida lol
I want to see the culture, take lots of pics and interact with the people.
