Campervan and budget advice for a 1st time traveller!!!

Hi All,

Hi really hope someone could help me...would really appreciate any advice that anyone has!

hi antonio.
Not sure if it is of any help but.
My wife and i did a month in oz about 3 years ago and took a motorhome/campervan for 9 nights. i found the hiden extras expensive while hiring the van, they try and push extra insurance in case a tree falls on the van or you sink up to the windows in quick sand.....humbug. they also told me in the small print that i must stay on the tarmac/bichamin roads with the van........so unless there was to be some act of god to take place i did not need that insurance, also the tables and chairs were on hire also, better to buy some then give them away once done (depending on how long your trip is) but we are thinking of doing it again next year and due to being a true Yorkshire man im looking for the best and cheapest way to do it.
If i can help give me a shout.
Garry

Thanks Gary,

We were initially looking to hire one for about 2 months but they all just seem so expensive mainly (i think) due to the time we are going...i really don't see how companies can charge around 5 times as much as they do in june for a january hire!!!!

What part of Yorkshire you from? me and mrs live in Leeds...looking ofcourse to get around the cheapest way we can!
when you planning to head back over that part of the world? I'm v.excited as never been before!

Antonio

Hey,

-snip-
The best campervan company is Jucy.... they are amazing, great cars, fuel efficient, the team are amazing and what you pay for is what you get!
With a lot of the other companies that I book, they appear a really good price at first, and then sting you with extra costs, not jucy!

Thanks Kayley,

I must say I did look at Jucy but they were really expensive. way over my budget. I do follow them on twitter though...in the hope that they have a major sale or something one day!

antonio, what sort of prices do you have already?

im getting one with two mates in oz next feb, only for three weeks as there going home, the only campers i have looked at so far are the ones in the sta travel brochure

I have various ranging from £45-50 up to £90 per day. its not too bad but that is only a 2 sleeper most basic without shower or toilet. the STA ones looked good and were advertised for like £13 a day but in when I started looking they actually turn out to be about £55 a day for cheapest at that time of year...what sort of price did you get out of them? If you look at any others let me know.
