im going to australia, new zealand and indonesia for 3 months. I will be using my phone mainly to text but also to do some quick calls home. I have been researching international sim cards but I cant decide what to get. Apparently sim4travel was the best but I've looked on their website and it looks like they don't sell them anymore. So I was thinking of getting the 0044 international sim card. Some people have said to just buy a pay-as-you-go sim card in the countries I'm going to, but surely that will still be expensive, and I'd have to buy multiple sim cards and then give everyone my new number again. So I don't know what will be best to get? I have unlocked my phone.
We used to have 0044 as a partner on Travellerspoint, but they really screwed us.... they probably wouldn't do the same to a client, but that's always left a bad taste in my mouth in terms of the ethics of those behind the company.
Have you checked out the partners we've been working with for 5 years now? You could either buy for each country; this is a good option if you are staying in one country for a really long time and just shortly in the other countries, ie. you only buy one for the country you are spending a long time in. Alternatively there's a special on via our partner ekit where you get a 'free' international sim card if you enter your TP username . It's not really free though, as I think you have to charge it once with credit, but that goes to calling minutes
Obviously check rates across different providers before buying; I'm sure there are differences there!!
Hi we are from New Zealand and are spending 3 mths up in the middle east/europe we have an ekit sim, works ok, using it in an iphone. You can top up credit online with credit card. They seem good easy to deal with etc

I know it's a bit of a pain, but ceratinly found pay-as-you-go sims in each country the cheapest way to keep in contact. They're cerainly the cheapest way to receive calls, cos if you've got an international sim then you are also paying for incoming calls as well as outgoing...
The other cheap way is to buy long distance calling cards in each country if you want to make long calls home for a chat - if you go with this option then maybe you can get away with just one sim to travel around and use for texting.
