No, it is not more dangerouse than anytime before.

Jessica,
You should be OK if you stay away from the areas where the 'red shirt' protesters are marching and causing conflict.

and where would these red shirts be?
I read that they will be in Bangkok downtown
so looks like reclining buddha, Khao San Road will not be affected

The majority of Bangkok is unaffected.

The red shirts are actually a very congenial bunch. The few bombs are the acts of a very few extremists, and have taken place outside of areas that would be of concern to a tourist.

Ask your hotel staff for updates about the Reds' plans. Tell them your plans to make sure you avoid any problems.

thanks all, looking forward to a safe trip in Thailand!

I'm in Bangkok and everything seems to be fine. MBK and the floating market are fine. Reclining Buddha and Khao San Rd is near to the Ratchadamnoen Rd and Pan Fa Bridge where they red shirts camp. So you might see a lot of red shirts there. But I dont think they will do anything to you. Just avoid them.

you wil be fine, ive just returned a few days ago and yes there was protests on quite a large scale, but apart from causing major traffic problems it was fine and seemed to be pretty peaceful protests...also the red shirts dont have a problem with tourists, remember without us there country would have even bigger problems,so yes ul be fine, your biggest worry will be the bloody tuk tuk and taxi drivers trying to rob you....just be careful and have your witts about you, enjoy!!!

The protests have nothing to do with tourists and neither has someone throwing a bottle at a government building. None of the tourists attractions have been affected, only the traffic around town time to time.
