Hi,
I am a 24 year old Female from the UK and am at present preparing for my travelling adventure at the end of this year/beginning of 2011!
Hiya
Travelling in Thailand by bus/train is very simple and quite cheap they have travel shops everywhere where you can get tickets and you can usually bartar with them although you are looking at 15 to 20 hour bus rides! which isn't to bad if you opt for the over night buses which also saves u money on accomodation for a night!
If you go striaght to Koh Tao you will miss out on Phuket n the unbelievable Phi Phi Island where Maya Bay is which is unbelievable.
If you are travelling alone i would definatly avoid the Full Moon party on Koh Phangnan unless you meet some trustworthy travel companions whilst you are there because it is definately not safe for you to be there at that time on your own.
Overall Thailand is not as dangerous as it is made out to be for travellers the people are generally friendly i would just advise not to put too much trust into people you dont no and dont go out at night drinking if you are going to be going back to your accomodation alone - just the usual female safety applies really!
Thailand is an unbelievably beautiful country u will have the time of your life! i am going on a RTW trip starting on the 21st June and will probably be in South East Asia May/June 2011 and i have to say i am really excited about that part of the trip!

h yeh and by the way i got my ticket from STA we are going Manc - Brazil, Santiago - Buenos Aires - Auckland, Christchurch - Sydney - Singapore, Bangkok - Manc they quoted us 1700 pounds but then they offered us one called a blue ticket which is 1300 pounds it is brilliant as well as you can change your flights for just 35 pounds at anytime during your trip.
I also no alot of people who have used STA and so i would recommend them :-D
Hi,
I would advise looking at Round The World Experts or Flight Centre (underwritten by the same people). me and my girlfriend have just booked our round the world
UK-Bangkok-OZ-NZ-Santiago (overland to Argentina)-UK
This includes free date changes and was £1588 leaving in september...They also have a free butler service which means all you have to do is email them with what date changes you want and they will sort them for you saving time and money with airlines!...

Hi,
We've just booked our round the world flights with STA for £1600, route: UK - Bangkok - Oz - NZ - Santiago overland Rio - UK. We had heard a lot of good reports about STA so we thought it was pretty safe going with them.
We were originally going to go with roundtheworldflights.com as the e-mail quote they gave us was better than STA but then when we called up to book, there was a lot more tax added on than they told us in the e-mail quote.
I've also heard good reports about flight centre and trailfinders also so maybe worth giving them a try!
