Used the search engines and TP, wondering what woudl be suitable, Morocco is the other option, but they have human rights issues.
Monastir - for sure.
There are some good bargains to be had via Berlin with Air Berlin, cheaper than direct from the UK with Thomas Cook. Also Nouvelair, if you get a cheapy from the UK and change at Paris CDG.
For the best bargains from Germany to Tunisia try www.ltur.de - use the big grey tab "Flug" on top of the page, then on the smaller pink bar underneath that tab hover the mouse over "Flugstrecken" and select "Mittelstrecke".
It will list a number of destinations, Tunisia (Tunesien) among them. Click on Tunesien, you'll see a list of airports in Tunisia. Selecting a destination airport will show you the possible airports in Germany and sometimes neighboring countries. Selecting the departure airport will then give you flight dates.
It pays off to play around with several destination and departure airports.
www.skyscanner.net will then help you find flights to Germany from the UK.
Note that for around 29 EUR you can usually buy return rail tickets from www.ltur.de, they are for travelling to the airport in Germany. Its called Zug-zum-Flug-Ticket and valid all over Germany. Sometimes they are even included for free in the flight ticket. You book this rail ticket by selecting the Zug-zum-Flug-Ticket option on the bottom of the page when you book your flight ticket.
Tip: Select "Keine Versicherungen" - this means "no insurance necessary".
Another possibility to get to Tunisia on the cheap is to fly to Sicily with a budget airline and take the ferry to Tunis. The ferry is approx. 40 EUR one-way.
Hi,
I often find that indirect flights bump up the travel cost as you have to pay the taxes for the middle airport too. I've been to Tunisia several times, flying from London, and have usually used Tunisair from Heathrow to Tunis. Prices depend on time of year, special offers and when you book, but I have got flights with them for around £150 which I don't think too bad. Especially for the convenience of flying direct. How convenient it is though depends on where in Tunisia you want to get to when you arrive.
