US Road Trip - 3 Months

Hi all,

Are you renting a car/van or buying a vehicle and selling it once your adventure is over?

Driving between Texas and California, route yourself on Interstate 40.

Take in the Grand Canyon and you have the option to turn north towards Las Vegas, then on to California.

We are looking to buy a car once we arrive. We have relatives that live in Pennsylvania who will help us as I have been told you need a permenant address. We are hoping to get a car which is good on gas and reliable for about $3000. Is that a bit optomistic??

I suggest that you look at minivans. They are easy to drive, get decent gas mileage, plenty of room to sleep in it when in the National Parks. Or when you just don't want to pay for another motel. The is my fave. Heaps of used ones out there for under $3K. Or the. Either one would be a better buy than a car IMO.

Send me a PM if you have any questions on driving across the US.

I have one simple piece of advice for you and it is....pls be careful when driving in the USA as they drive on the right hand side of the road. It might seem obvious but sometimes it can get confusing and has led to many accidents in the past, with British drivers turning into the left side of the road! So pls be careful in this respect.
