Banks and ATMs in Cambodia

Are there banks and ATMs in Cambodia where travelers can withdraw extra money, or should you take enough money with you?

We never had any problem withdrawing money in Phnohm Penh or Siem Reap, not sure about some of the smaller regional towns. All the ATM's we used dispersed cash in US$.

Although there are ATMs in Siem Reap (and Phnom Penh) they aren't as prolific in rural areas. US dollars is the currency used. Make sure you have new, crisp notes note old or crumpled. Even though you hand over nice new notes, you're just as likely to be given old dirty local currency (Riel) in change. 4,000 Riel is equal ro US$1.00.

I'd take as much cash (US dollars) as you feel comfortable with. Take plenty of small currency - $1, $5 and $10.
