There are many buses every day going from KL to Hat Yai via Bukit Kayu Hitam bordering crossing which is in Kedah. Buses leave day and night and there are several bus companies. The cost is about RM45. Takes 8-9 hours.
Trains are very limited, there is only one express train in the evening, it is very slow, about 14 hours. And more expensive than the bus.

I would suggest you to take the train from KL to Hat Yai. It starts at 9 PM from Kuala Lumpur and arrives next morning at around 10:00 AM (including 1 hour at the border for immigration etc). Book for sleeper berth so that you can comfortably sleep through night. Very convenient.. I have taken this train just a month back and highly recommend this option. The fare was 68 MYR (Malaysian Ringgit).
Other options is to take overnight bus from Pudu Raya bus station. The fare is around MYR 45 but you'll have to go sitting. And I heard they take almost 10-11 hours (all inclusive) to reach the place.
In both cases there are buses plying from LCCT to these places.
I think you can get a Malaysian visa on arrival.
Am inclined to agree with Nisha here. Overnight train with sleeper would be more restful than sitting on buses for nine hours. Look at it this way - you're only paying an extra MYR23 which is cheaper than many overnight accommodation rates.
Double check before you go to Puduraya for ticket... There are some upgradings of the bus terminal there... Some of the bus operators had moved to Bukit Jalil... I am not sure if Bus to Hatyai will be operating from Bukit Jalil...

I was in KL just a few days back. I agree there is some renovation work going on but being a major bus stop, buses are still available. They have only shifted the starting point of some buses to Bukit Jalil including the one I took.
These buses pick up passengers from Pudu Raya as well. I bought my ticket at Pudu Raya and waited there till my bus came & was guided to it.
Not many people know of this arrangement, so they prefer to wait at Pudu Raya.

I have planning the trip to go to Thailand at April 2011 (I've planned it early because I've to saves money :])
I've chosen to travel with "Airasia". So it will arrive at Kuala Lumpur, then I need to take a bus or a train to Hatyai, Thailand or Thailand border in Kedah (I've got 2 options on this)
* Could you help me choose which options is better?

No need for visa.
With Puduraya is now closed for renovation, now you can travel from KL to Hatyai , taking bus from Pasar Raya.
