Can anyone advise on travel from rome to croatia. We have looked at flights and boats and cant make up our minds on best option. Ideally we would like to start our months travels of Eastern Europe
in Split or Dubrovnik.
Without getting you to precise points (as requested.. Rome - Croatia), I've found a nice cheap and quick route if it's any good.
Budget airline Ryanair do flights from Bari (S.E. Italy) to Zadar very cheap if your dates are flexible. A booked in advance train fare from Rome to Bari is cheap too, if you shop around.
Bari is a lovely city and well worth a couple of days.
Zadar to Split is around 100kms and will cost you around €10 one way on the train. It's a really lovely coastal town with similar architechture to Dubrovnik.
Flight from Bari to Zadar will cost you not more than 20 euros total. It's the best and fastest way. Also Ferry Ancona - Zadar, Ancona - Split and Bari - Dubrovnik and flight Rome - Dubrovnik.
