Travel In Malaga

How long is a piece of string?

It really is a pretty open-ended question, but I'll try to find some points of reference.
Menu del dia: typically about 12 euros
Beer: € 1.50 in an ordinary bar
Coffee: € 1.20 to € 1.60
Most other things are too variable to be meaningful unless you are more specific about what you want.

Malaga isn't really a great place for a short break. Sure, the airport is close-by and it's also a big city. But you need to go along the coast a bit towards Marbella to get the real entertainment. Keep clear of Marbella centre itself for cheap accommodation and you'll be fine. Then at night, get the bus into town and everything you want is there. In Old Marbella, the food and drink is as cheap as anywhere else in Spain. It's down along the beach where you start paying silly prices for the same thing.
A room for the night outside of the main resort can be had easily for €20 to €25. Spain is in a right financial mess right now and there are a lot of people screaming out to let rooms.
Torremolinos, not far from Malaga (about 20 minutes) is a resort with pretty good night life too, although much of the place could really do with a coat of paint. Again, a room will be easy to find. Eating out, is easy and cheap. If you want expensive, then its there.
Personally I prefer self catering in Spain. The shops are excellent and the food is fresh and cheap. Its so inexpensive and easy to cook a nice evening meal and sit down with a chilled bottle of wine. Then hit the clubs, where you're spoilt for choice.
