Thanksgiving ideas

Yeah, Thanksgiving is a pretty solidly family day. For example, on where I live - Washington, DC - on Thanksgiving day you can shoot a cannon down any main street and not hit anyone. Everyone is home eating Turkey and watching football.

That said, the DAY AFTER Thanksgiving - Friday - is a day off for most people, and a traditional Chirstmas shopping day. If you really want to experience something, you should go shopping on Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles on that day - it will be crazy! (or any mall in America for that matter....)

If it were me, I would not travel in the U.S. around Thanksgiving. Because so many people travel home to see family, the airports are notoriously crowded and the domestic flights are pretty expensive. Any flights between November 19th and 29th are going to be more expensive. I know because I have shopped for flights recently.

I myself am leaving the U.S. and going to Turkey over Thanksgiving (I know there is a joke in there somewhere), but flying out on the 18th and back on the 30th....

Don't let the above dissuade you from visiting though! Please come and enjoy yourselves! We love tourists AND their money

In NYC you have the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade very popular with tourist; we also have "black friday" which is one of the biggest shopping days in the year [everything is half off]; the lighting of the Christmas Tree in Rockefeller Center; and the Radio City Christmas Show; Nutcracker Ballet
