I am currently in Egypt & about to head to Ethiopia but am getting confused info from varios sites regarding he Northern loop Historical route. Axum, Lalibela, Gondar and Bahir Dar & the Simeain Mountains. Is this possible in the rainy season by bus & is july & August the middle of the rainy season.

I was in Ethiopia in November/December. According to my knowledge the rainy season lasts to mid-October. Travelling through the mountains can be a hard experience, but local people do travel all the year long so it's certainly not impossible. The best option is to get from Sudan do Gonder. In case of a very difficult situation, you have very good connexions with Ethiopian airlines almost everywhere in the country, you can always change your plans and visit the South with it's amazing tribal culture
