Hello everybody, I'm Tamara, living in Canada for now ,hoping to get my visa to move to Australia next year.
I'm looking for itinerary ideas for my trip.
Hi Aussie2b!
I am an Aussie... doing the opposite of what you are wanting to do. I'm living in Canada this year and working and tripping around! It is sooo much fun! Some of the things I have down this year I planned from home, some ideas I got from people I talked to over here who really knew the best areas to go. So I guess plan some ideas before you go, but be flexible and leave room for spontaneous trips too!
Sydney is a beautiful place, you will really like it there. The waterfront is gorgeous. I think your trip from Cairns - Melbourne (or visa versa) would be a great idea. You would have so many beautiful places to see along the east coast. It is a long way though, so you could either go via bus or in some parts you could choose to fly. You may find some good deals through airlines - Jetstar is the Aus equivalent to Webjet. It really depends on you budget and preference for travelling type.
A couple of other places I reccommend you visit if you get time:
- Uluru/Alice Springs
- Darwin/Kakadu NP
- Broome/Perth/Margaret River area
- Great Barrier Reef
- Great Ocean Road
Anyway, they are just a few places that will give you a real taste of the variety of places and experiences Aus has to offer!! I am sure you will have as much fun working and travelling Aus as I have touring and travelling Canada. What an experience!! Have fun

Hi Miss Nat, thanks for replying to my post. That's so cool that you chose Canada for your trip! Where are you now? And when did you start? I haven't even visited Canada myself that much. I would love to go see the west (Alberta and BC). Apparently it's beautiful there.
Thanks for your ideas for places to see in Aus. I definitely want to see all of those. Of course my budged isn't that big, but I know that a lot of backpackers travel there and their budget is surely smaller than mine, most of them being students...So I'm sure that with a bit of planning it's possible...
Where do you live in Australia and when are you going back?
Do you know any lab techs by any chance? Anyways, maybe when I'll go there we can meet someplace and you can give me a tour... Take care! And have fun for the rest of your trip!
Hi Aussie2b!
I am living in Toronto... it is my base for the whole year. I am travelling out West in just under a month... super excited about that! I am even throwing in an Alaskan cruise into the mix... so lots of fun to be had! Even more I am looking forward to seeing family I haven't seen for 6 months! By the end of my time here I should have seen quite an extensive amount of Canada. It really is an amazing country.
I definately think you should be able to get to see a lot of those places in Aus. I have travelled quite extensively in Aus (been to every state and territory!) and you can do it on a budget... it just requires a little planning and preparation. Sadly I don't know any lab techs... sorry! I live down south, near Melbourne. I am going back at the end of the year, so I'll be back home for 2011 (well, that's the plan so far!!). Yeah - keep in touch and if you are out we could meet up!
Good luck with all your planning :o) Aaaahhh travelling is the life! (work occassionally gets in the way!! Haha... but it does provide an excellent base for the funds to travel!)
