:-) no, its not new. Ppl from Europe go there for vacations, there are many forigners who lives in Beirut. Beirut is interesting because of this mix of cultures and religons, it has very nice sea, nightlife, good food, etc. If you plan to travel there you should keep in your mind that it's not peaceful place. It's enough to read some history of last 5-10-15-20 years and you would see it yourself. Probaby you will be lucky enough to have a safe trip or .. may be u dont. It's completely not up to you, but depends of so many factors of local social/economical/political life that u have no chance to know and understand them from outside.
