Hi all
Hi Vicky,
Yes it is possible but it will be a long day of course. But as you are with 4 persons who can drive (make sure to have that in order when you rent a car, so that others can drive as well, costs a little extra but would be a good idea).
You can travel along the entire coastline, or start and see how time works out and go inland to do the last part on the Interstate. Try to go take the Interstate first and go towards the coast heading towards Santa Cruz and around the bay south to Monterrey to catch up with the nicest part. Highlights are of course the Big Sur Route and don't forget to visit the just north of San Simeon, which is really special. You won't find them in many places that are so easy to visit. It is signposted, otherwise see their website. Just south of here is Cambria, a good place to have dinner before you keep on going!
Have fun!
Michael
