Hello, I've decided to do some interrailing in November, mainly in Germany. The idea is to fly out to Berlin before meeting my Dad in Dortmund 2 weeks later, to see a Borussia Dortmund football match.
You can do all that in 4-5 days. It all depends on how long you want to spend en route.
Luxembourg is pretty boring. The area across the border in Germany (Rheinland) is much more interesting. Try to spend at least two days in Trier - it's the oldest city in Germany. From Trier you can go to Luxemburg Ville as a day trip. Journey time is under an hour and the fare (if you buy your ticket locally) is something like 10€ return.
Koblenz is also worth a stop.
You can look for itineraries and pricing information here: http://www.bahn.com/i/view/index.shtml
What time of year will you be visiting?
