South America by motorcycle

madcarver has indicated that this thread is about South America

I did not travel by motorcycle, but did make a trip down from Guatemala through parts of Central and South America a few years ago. We were not in Columbia or Venezuela, but when from Guate to Honduras and Nicaragua and then to Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Argentina and Chile. Most of our time was spent in Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, and Argentina. I can give you info about these places and you might want to check my blog, vagabonding@60 where there are many entries about these places. Good luck jonshapiro

Hi Madcarver! awe inspiring adventure!well I traveled with friends around Ecuador, then into peru and thenbBolivia all around then we flew away from santa Cruz and we found roads mostly in good shape(specially for bikes) the road from Ecuador, into Peru was very long and dusty, but once in peru we found parts of it that were relatively improved, once we found Lima roads from there are much better and usually paved all the way down to Arequipa, and then Puno, and even to the bolivian border , from there and most of the bolivian roads were decent enough for bikes, even the notorious "death road" tha we rode on the bus to rurrenabaque, so go for it! and let me know about dates I may be interested in joining you around!
