Hi all
Depends on a lot of things; what the job is, what your savings are like, what skills you have, do you plan to work while travelling, etc..
Naturally enough, people on Travellerspoint will tend to tell you to "go for it" But maybe some more detail on your situation would help with the discussion.
Anyway, Peter, thanks for your reply, i know that "go for it" is much better than "stay at the same place". Go whereever I can when I still have the energy go for it. Cheers
It's rare that job can wait for you for few months, but I know few ppl who returned to same place after RTW. If you satisfied with your work right now - you may try to talk to them about, say you like it and would b interested to be back right there, if it'll b possible. Well, i'm from those who would say "go for it", not only cause it's easier to say, but it just what i believe. Here is a lil danger - big trip often does changes in your mind, and "what can do after" isnt a banal question, cuz it's not oly about money to live, but which life u want to live. The greatest thing that happen to you in the way is freedom, which becomes not just a word, but touchable and real thing, and then ... sometimes... it gets too important to miss it for anything material. But, well, most of ppl sucsess to combine (somehow) travel and job. personally I don't think that you should worry too much about after-travel period - there are always new oportunities in life come when you avaliable to receive them. Peter is so right about "depends on lot of things" (your skills, age, m. status, location, etc) - it's really no universal answer on this quest.
Cheers, n have a great trip!
Vanessa, you are so right, there are always new oportunities in life come when you avaliable to receive them. Thanks for your reply.
hi, victor, where ar u planning to go and for how long? i'm thinking abt taking a 1 yr off, just to travel around or may do some volunteer work to exp. life
Hi Victor,
Life is short and I believe you need to do what you want while you can. Traveling the world is a great adventure and I am in the process of doing that myself. There are many type of jobs you could do on a part-time basis while you are traveling and then when you return, you can pick the same job on a fulltime basis. With telecommuting due to the Internet, anything is almost possible anymore. Good luck with your decision!
Happy Traveling!

I was going to say:
The main factors are:
How much do you like your current job
Your age - it's harder to find a job again if you're 40+
Your finances - do you have debts, savings?
But then I saw in your profile that you're 22.
Go for it, no question. I'm in my 40s. I traveled a fair bit in my 20s, but if I could have them back again, I would travel a whole lot more. Way more. You have plenty of time yet to start a career. It's still fun traveling when you're older, but it's different. Having your world on your back and an open itinerary is amazing. Having the body to handle all-night train rides, rough camping, some partying, etc. is something you will come to appreciate when it's gone. You've got to grab these opportunities when you can. It can be lonely at times traveling alone, but it will be much more rewarding. When you travel solo, you meet 10x as many people as when you travel in a group. Cheers.
Hi all, thanks for the advices, i have a clear mind that what decision i should do. Have a great day.
