I'm 42yo Italian going for a short period in Thailand and probably Vietnam in December and planning to reach Lhasa slowly through the south west/central china and east to Shangai in Jan maybe Feb. I'm looking for easy going traveller/s that would be interested in sharing part of the track together. My main interest is for small-medium towns, rural areas, art and architecture. If you want to travel in Tibet, i have a suggestion for you, to get into Tibet, you need to apply for permit and border card in advance, maybe about 1week, besides that, you also need make a exact travel itinerary, so that you can apply for the permit smoonthly. Good luck and enjoy the trip.
thank you scpanda, I heard about the Aliens Travel Permit, do you also know if I'd need the Military Allowance to reach Tibet by train?
