Best Festivals and Events in Europe??

I dont really know where to start, but I a junkie for random events and festivals.
I know there are the typical like Oktoberfest in Munich etc.
But there is also random ones like Waffle day in sweden on march 25.

Here are some English ones that come to mind:

Chinese New Year - London (usually January/February)
Pancake Race - Olney (February/March)
St. Patrick's Day - London (March)
Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race - London (March/April)
Sweeps Festival - Rochester (May)
Gloucester Cheese Rolling - Gloucester (May/June)
Trooping the Colour - London (June)
Dickens Festival - Rochester (June)
Glastonbury Festival - Glastonbury (June)
Notting Hill Carnival - London (end of August)
Bestival - Isle of Wight (September)
West Country Illuminated Carnival (November)

Sounds like a fun idea; could use a bunch of these to help build the which controls what shows on the home page as well!

Anyone know about Greece in the spring?

As regards Greece, carnival comes to mind. The best known carnivals are in Patras, Xanthi and Moschato (Athens). Then of course there's Easter, with celebrations throughout the country.

On the subject of carnivals, Lemesos in Cyprus, Cologne in Germany, Nice in France and Venice in Italy are also worth adding to the list.
