Cracow or Warsaw?

Hello everyone!

I was in Krakow for 3 hours and Warsaw for 3 days. Krakow seemed far nicer IMO

Krakow is lovely; I can't speak for Warsaw but I have heard it's not as pretty, and more people seem to go to Krakow.

Hello Mic,

Go for Cracow - there is just no question about it. In terms of architecture, history and the general atmosphere Warsaw is no match for Cracow. Besides, Cracow is a convenient gateway to the Czech Republic (a couple of hours' train trip to Brno for instance).

I have not been to Cracow. But I found Warshaw to be a bit boring. Like some sleeping giant waiting for things to happen. I would thus also recommend going to Cracow.

I agree with Rudolf555 - definitely aim for Cracow

Not much debate from me either Krakow is my pick also. Warsaw was pretty much flattened in the second world war. There's a lot of post-war, communist style architecture making up the city which generally is not particularly exciting.

The exception is the Old Town which was restored to its original form and is quite attractive.

Krakow is a beautiful city, with great food, enjoyable markets and some heart-wrenching history. It's a memorable place to go to and should definitely be your choice.

Hi,

As Polish, I can highly recommend Cracow (Krakow) more than Warsaw (Warszawa) for one simple reason: C is more historic/academic/touristy place while W is more business oriented. I spent couple of months last year working in Warsaw and can say that there are a lot of good clubs and generally interesting nightlife (gigs, etc), but for visitors Cracow wins. Besides train between both cities takes like 2-3h.

From Cracow you can definitelly go to Auschwitz (Oswiecim) and of course south to Czech Republic. Brno is great (spent there 2 years of my life), very chilled city and much cheaper/nicer & less crowded than Prague with loads of foreigners living there as well. If you're in Brno, you're just 2h away from Vienna, 3h away from Prague and 5h from Budapest, all by bus

Hi,
I am Polish too and I can recommend Warsaw. I know many people that they prefere Warsaw. First off all it is capital. Second big city, and you can feel it.
In Warsaw you have everything history ( great history), parks, museums, old town, modern district and socialistic buildings. If you want to understand Poland ( not only see touristic places) got to Warsaw.
