Im off an a year's sabbatical next year and starting at the Carnival in Rio!
Staying at El Misti Hostel in Copacabana...no idea what its like, but hope its worth the money...carnival seems to raise the prices everywhere by ten fold...
I'm a 28yr old male from the UK; was going to be travelling alone, but have since had a friend decide to come along too for a few weeks. Always like to met up with other travellers though so if if you fancy chatting then let me know.

Have you ever been Carnival before??
Tell me about it....plus everywhere demands that you book the whole week for Carnival!
I think everywhere even slightly cheaper sells out about a year in advance though! Eventually I just got sick of looking so booked El Misti...
Never been to Carnival before but can't wait...next four months can't go fast enough.

Yeh the carnival starts on March 5th, for about 3 days, but there are still things going on just before and after those dates (eg....street parties etc).
Dave, I think I will end up staying in Rio, I am doing peru, bolivia, paraguay before I do Rio, so unless anything else comes up I will prob stay in Rio, from what iv heard its an amazing place, so there will prob be quite a lot to do. What ur plans after Rio??
