Travelling in Central America

Hi there

hi! i traveled not alone but I met there (in Central Am) many ppl who did, also ladies. No one of them looked bothered. The best way to travel depends your values ( time, what u expect and plan to do there, health conditions) and your financial abilities - Central Am. is inexpensive but "extras" (better hotel, better or faster transportation, some additional comfort) still cost. I adore this region and cant wait to come back there again. I always felt safely and good there. What s really worth - to know some Spanish. Few countries are English-speaking, but most of others not at all. Even little Spanish could help.
cheers,
v.

Hi Vanessa

thanks a lot for your prompt reply.
So good to hear that this looks not impossible to do
Spanish is one of my problems, looks like if I have to learn a bit spanish until then.

you have any suggestion where I shall go, special places or something?

cheers,
fabelousi

Angelique

hi again!
Well, Central Am. is adorable.
Where to go - it depends of your aims, budget, time and selfconfidence.
CA - its 6 countries (not incl. Mexico): Belize, Guatemala, Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rika and Panama. Avoid capital cities - usually not much to do and not safe.

If you have limited time - then go to Guatemala, it "covers" almost everything tht u can wish to see and do in C. Am and in Latin Am. at general. Guatemala is absolutelly amazing. The only thing that missed is Caribean Sea, which "cut off" of Gua.

Belize is too "American" (Eng speaking too) and a bit expensive - very nice country but nothing special to compare to others. For Caribbean sea & scuba dive I'd be going to Honduras. Islands which "sitting" on the reef are adorable, Eng-speaking as well - absolute paradise. Land of Honduras is less attractive then Gua, Salvador also nice, but alike Honduras - cant b compared to GUA. In Honduras I met so many good people - it's really special!

Nicaragua - just my love! I cant explain, but it's so so so special! Definately worth a visit.

Costa Rica - famous, beautful, a bit more expensive and , again, more "American" (developed, touristic, etc). Great place, but for gungle and volcanos Id b going to Nicaragua, it' s very near and, at my opinion much better. For culture (piramids and folklor) - Id choose whole Guatemala n culure of Gariuna (Caribbean Honduras), for sports and fun - everywhere u go! :-D

Panama- i have never been there, but it seems very interesting, geographically and abt other reasons. it's almost south am. already.

Dont afraid be flexible and change your plans on the way. You have Spanish schools there - if u have time, then maybe it's better, as well to get some basic Spanish for advance is good idea.
Good luck!
Will b glad to hear your impressions.
