actually how bad is the monsoon season in thailand? is it a real... damper, on the trip?
Monsoon always sounds more ominous than simply heavy rain.
It all depends on where you are, some areas may flood a little more, some years are worse than others. But most of the time the rain stops in an hour or two and the sun comes out again. There may be some heavy seas off the beach in some areas.
Millions of tourists still come during the rainy season because this is also low season.
I like the rainy season because the leaves, grass and other plant life is more colorful. Also some additional fruits and vegetables may also be available too.
I like the weather in Pattaya, I think the rainy season is pretty mild there most of the time. But other beach areas vary with the season. Best weather is probably right now to the end of February. But this present period is also the high season, more tourists and higher hotel prices.
I think anytime is a good time to visit Thailand. Pick the time that fits your budget and time constraints.
