LA to Niagra falls

I will be travelling alone from the end of May to about the end of July 2011 from Australia starting in LA will like to stay around Santa monicalike to see the Grand canyon, sandiago Zoo, san Fransisco fishermans wharf, Zion then maybe going right up to niagra. is it safe for one thing doing it alone I am 50 and fit love photography nikon D3 can anyone suggest places to stay I like clean nice friendly hotels or motels not cheap but it does not have to cost the earth. another thing transport any suggestions

When you get to Niagara Falls, it's much nicer to visit and view from the Canadian side of the border.

I will try and do some reserch as to where to stay etc thank you

That sounds like a great trip! Its a long drive between Zion and Niagra Falls however. Any plans for something in between. Driving through the Rockies in Colorado is simply breathtaking, I consider it a must! While in San Diego consider perhaps staying at the-snip. I believe thats where "Some Like it Hot" was filmed and the town itself is quiet charming and has access to some beautiful beaches. When you get to Niagra, the falls are a must but less than an hour away is a quiant town called Niagra on the Lake and its definitely worth a look. So are there any plans between Zion and Niagra? Best of travels to you!

thought about flying or a train trip but driving sounds .... don't know I am from australia and we drive on the other side of the road (: but it is worth considering maybe taking a driving lesson from a driving school before I rent a car. how long is the trip if one should try it and how much to rent a car I presume $35 or $40 a day don't know if they include milage and insurance. looked up hotel coronado it looks terrific it costs around $300 with a 50% off every 2nd night

finally booked my tickets flying from Melbourne to San Fran. on the 28th of May will be looking for a hotel .anyone have any suggestions, on what to see and do I will be there for about a week then slowly work my way to the grand canyon sandiago etc .
