The best package bargains are to be found shortly before your planned getaway date.
The worst prices are in January - in fact, unless you're going away the following week.
Budget airline flights, always book them well in advance to get the best price.
National carriers, the longer you leave it - the more chance you have of bagging a bargain.
Holiday packages, short notice deals are always cheaper than booking months in advance.
Try building your own holiday (seperate flight, hotel, meals, transfers etc.). It will so often save you a fortune - if you do it months in advance, compared to brochure prices.

It depends upon the location - the place you are staying and places you want to visit. However, if you talk in economic terms then I would advice you do so during off peak time i.e. not so 'best time' because during that time you tend to get more better deals than ever. It also helps if you can book your travel in advance then also you can save a lot.
I guess off season, it'll be cheaper.But there are a lot of deals for the holiday season.It also depends on the place your going too.I had a great vacation with my family last year at Ireland and Uk -snip-. Quite good deal.Where will you be headed for in Jan ?
Totally depends on the location. The general trend is high/holiday season during the location's best weather which isn't necessarily summer.
I personally like to travel in the in-between holiday seasons as often the weather is a bit cooler and perfect for traveling or a little too hot but worth it due to the lower rates....
