Help travelling in north america :)

hallad has indicated that this thread is about North America

We need to know what time of year you'll be here, and some of your interests.

Hey Hallad!
I've been thinking of the (approx.) same route but the other way round - starting with Europe (Jul-Sept) then moving on to USA (Sept-Nov/Dec), then Mexico, then South AMerica, then probably SE Asia if enough money left by that time around the world as a result ))
I was wondering, planning my budget at the moment, what budget do you calculate for yourself? approx.?

Aly~

Sept.- Dec. Stay in Florida it is gorgeous!!!! Not hot at all to Floridian standards. Yes, it does piss me off when people come down in the fall/spring/winter and its 76º and they are all like ... "oh its, so beautiful.. it's just so hot." IT IS NOT HOT IN FLORIDA FROM NOV. TO FEB. IF YOU WANT HOT COMING IN EFIING JULY AND AUG AND YOU WILL TRULY KNOW WHAT HOT IS. Grow some balls and jump in the ocean.

Anyway. South florida is where you want to be. Ft. Lauderdale, and its about 30 mins out west if you want to see the Everglades before the US goes broke and closes it forever. Uhm.. Disney and Universal in Orlando if you like that touristy shit.

Daytona/Cocoa/St. Augustine have lovely ... slightly less populated beaches. St. Augustine is historical and just a wonderful little town. Tampa is also beautiful on the gulf coast side, and St. Pete is about 30 mins from Tampa.

Need I also mention the gorgeous keys!!! You can rent a car and drive from south florida, to Key Largo (1st key), Isla Morada .. nice for natural landscape and seascape. and down to Key West. Marathon Key is another hidden gem.

If you must venture away from Florida .. realize that north of the 33º parallel ... about southern North Carolina .. the US is under snow.

And just stay the fuck out of Miami. It's dirty, ghetto, run down, expensive as hell, worst traffic ever, and anyone from Miami is not really "from" Miami. And also don't bother if you don't speak Spanish.

I recommend Steamboat Springs, Colorado for skiing/snowboard also Wyoming or Montana. Best slopes are there. Chicago and New York will be frozen over. Southern California, LA County and San Diego are beautiful that time of the year and a little cooler than Florida. Only the ocean will be fridged. Hummmm ... and Pac NW (Seattle and Portland) is fantastic only it WILL be rainy .. and cold.

really mods?!

Yeah, don't know why that was flagged either. My best guess would be someone took umbrage at "just stay the fuck out of Miami". Any of the 210+ respected members (which I suspect you'll be yourself very soon) or travel gurus can flag a post for attention by the moderators; unfortunately you can't unflag something, so this flag could even have been a mistake. I suspect that when Isadora or Calcruzer (or Sam or Peter) sees your post, it'll be unflagged.

I have removed the second posting of your response because it ultimately became a duplicate once I removed the flag from the first one. But, Sander is correct in his reasoning on why it was flagged originally. I must say we have a great group of respected and travel guru members who take these forums very seriously. They also know the use of profanity in a thread can escalate very quickly, especially if someone disagrees with your comments. It has happened many times in the past - rather like a line of falling dominos.

I am leaving the original reply intact. As 'janitor' of this and a few other forums, I do ask that everyone keep their responses as free of profane language as possible. Our readership covers all age groups. Yes, I realize even a 5 year old is exposed to it but please understand it is in violation of Forum Rule #1: NO swearing, derogatory or inflammatory remarks are allowed.

With that, I return this thread to it's originally scheduled topic - that of traveling North America.

it's quite alright .. i do get carried away sometimes. I will try my best to watch the language. Sorry!!
