10 days? I would just advice a relatively small backpack as handluggage.
I spend a week with one of those and still had too much crap with me.
50L will be definitely be big enough....
For trips ranging from a few days to about 1.5-2 weeks I can manage with a 35L bag. That differs if you want to bring camping gear or related stuff with you. But 50 will probably/likely do for 10 days. The smaller the bag, the less junk you can take with you and the less you have to carry
