Myself and two friends going Eastern Europe July. I like the sound of your plan, we thinking same places. I may run it past my friends.
We were thinking of getting the same 10 day travel within 22 days but after looking endlessly on net think might best just buy tickets at station. I think it might work out cheaper.

You could consider Split.
It will of course mean more time on the train, Rijeka is more direct.
I visited split in the eighties - OK beach and nightlife by the standards then. Don't know how it is today.
Nice islands with less crowded beaches a ferry-ride from centre of town.
Diocletians palace is of course something very special.
