Travelling alone is easy. Millions do it. Thailand and Down Under are safe. I've been to LA several times and had no trouble. Just use a little common sense and watch out for pick pockets and the like. You'll come back next year and wonder why you were worried.
You are going the right time for weather. High season though so book yourself some accommodation:
asiarooms, lowcostholidays, hostelbookers, trivago, travellerspoint, etc.
You get 30 days in Thailand visa free so in your place I would stay there that long as everything is so cheap there. See a few places, do some shopping and spend some time on the beach.
Australia is big and flying can be the best way for some destinations rather than spending endless hours on buses.
You can fly into one destination and out of another, making your own way between the points.
The same with New Zealand if you wish. Lots to see there but for some reason, most stick to the south of the South Island. Car is the best way to get around, and like Australia they drive on the left. Book beforehand if you want one.
You can fly into LA and out of San Francisco. Lots to see in and between both places.
For such a period, take out insurance. If you shop around it isn't too expensive and is helpful if there are unexpected mishaps including lost luggage or cancelled flights.
I'm travelling with my mate to Thailand to next month but will be Australia solo in September which will be a tad daunting
You booked your flights and you looking to work over there?
You manage to book your flights x
Are ya, how long you going travelling for? Naaaah i haven't booked them yet, i am so scared to go alone...it's just the flying out there and all that malaki i want someone there or someone to meet at the other end ya know! Erm i wasn't really thinking of working, but i know Oz is quite dear so i may end up having too...but we'll see. What are your plans ohow long you going for?? Have you booked your flights?? xx
Only the traveling can free from your loneliness... You will travel alone it is very easy and you will not alone in your full trip.. Enjoy your Travel..
Hey,
When are you thinking of leaving Lizzie?
My route is Most of SE Asia, Aus, NZ, then maybe America.
Hopefully leaving in Sept 12 but nothing set in stone yet, going on my own to so as you said it slightly pooping my pants but i'm just going to do it (heard most people where i'm heading are all quite short which has helped haha) x
I'm looking to leave around October-November, it's when the smmer starts and gives me another few more months to save..i am only looking to travel for around 6 months ! Ha ha ha why are you short then!?
Don't leave it too late to book your flights. I'm not going till December and the day I wanted to go there was just four seats left for the last leg of the flight to Bangkok (it's cheaper if you don't go direct). I don't know whether it was true or they wanted early bookings but I booked the flight. Leaving it late can add hundreds of pounds as seats fill up.
If you are thinking of working in Australia, you'll need a work visa. One guy who took the plunge:

Haha no im not but if everyone else is shorter than me i will feel less intimidated, I have no idea how long to go for i'm just leaving my job and going, not sure how much to save up either, i've heard so many people say you need loads but than other people say you get buy on less than £500 a month and thats living in good accomadation with 3 meals a day and trips...
I'm short!! I'm only 5ft 2 so hopefully i'll be taller than a few people mwahah! Depends how long your planning on going for, i'm going for 6months and i'll probably have a grand a month...but i'm not really planning on working a lot. I would live it up !! Are you planning on going to Thailand Ryan!?
