I'm 20 and travelling to the UK next Summer for about a month. I possibly have a place to stay in Scotland but want to visit more than just Scotland. I'm interested in Historical sites and places to have fun and relax. I was hoping to get some advice on where to go, places to see and places to have some fun all across the UK. I'll be there for a month so I have time to do a lot of stuff.
There are loads of places in England with a bit of history - London, Canterbury, Oxford, Cambridge, Bath Bristol, Stonehenge, Stratford-on-Avon, Lincoln, York, Durham, Berwick-on-Tweed. And those will just scratch the surface. Then there's Wales and Northern Ireland too. That'll give you somewhere to start your planning.
If you know other people and can get other places to stay, you could keep your costs down; accommodation isn't cheap in the UK.
You might want to plan your travelling around sporting or musical events in the summer too - Glastonbury, Formula 1, Wimbledon, cricket? And the Tour de France will be in Yorkshire and Cambridge to London next year too.

London. If you are going to be in Scotland you must see London. If you start looking now you should be able to find a cheap hostel. Have fun!
Yes, definitely London. If you haven't got friends there, try Carr Saunders Hall - LSE's halls of residence. Then it depends on which historical period you're interested in. Canterbury, Bath and York (and Lincoln and London) are all Roman with some later history too. Stonehenge is will before that period. Oxford and Cambridge are university cities. Read up on-line (Wikipedia will do) and get some idea from there. ANd don't forget Edinburgh too,
Get a Historical Scotland pass and visit the many castles and ruins around the country. Especially helpful in saving money if you intend to go to Edinburgh Castle (which I recommend you do).
Also agree with Bath and York suggestions—amazing places, loads of history, and picture-perfect Britishness.
Hey I'm from Ireland and the best historical sites are:
• newgrange in co. Meath
• clonmacnoise in co.offaly
• Kilkenny castle obviously in co.Kilkenny
To name a few,
Most beautiful sights are;
• the cliffs of moher
• the burren
•. The giants causeway
Ireland has some fab scenery but mayo and Kerry are beautiful esp dingle

With my 1 month vacation in Ireland, I had so much fun. I went to Boyne Valley that contains some of the most important historic sites and monuments, It is a designated World Heritage Site. I have also visited St. Patrick's Cathedral in Dublin. And don't forget to visit Aran Island, The mystical, frozen-in-time islands are famous for their preservation of a rural existence largely unchanged, at least culturally, over the centuries. Hope this can help you out on your trip .
