Bangkok Airport- Siem Reap

Hi there

a direct flight from Bkk at 10.25 Cambodian Angkor Airlines will take you to Siem Reap in 1 Hour 10 mins. It will cost you approx 250US$

Hi Pali!

Thats when I arrive into Bangkok. Are you flying from Heathrow with Emirates by any chance? X

There are various buses and several airlines that do the Bangkok to Siem Reap route. I flew with Bangkok Airways from Siem Reap to Bangkok in 2006, but the road has since improved I believe so the bus could be a good option for you. I have a feeling that most of the buses leave early in the morning from Bangkok, so you may just miss out on your first day.

There used to be Bus 390 that goes to Talad Rong Kluea from Suvarnabhumi. From there you can get to Siem Reap.

I have never used this bus. From Suvarnabhumi there is a free shuttle bus to get to the bus station. If you have any interest in this bus do some more research on it. You can Google "Bus 390 to Talad Rong Kluea from Suvarnabhumi" for more info.

When I went to Siem Reap I flew to Phnom Penh and from there (after a few days in PP) used a ferry boat to get to SR.

Flying is faster but flights to SR are not that cheap for Asia.

Pali,
I checked with and found out that they fly to Siem Reap. The problem is that Air Asia uses the 'old airport' Don Mueang. There is a flight at 10:20am DMK-REP for $73, The trick will be to get from Suvarnabhumi to Don Mueang fast enough. I just don't think you have enough time for this option to work. There is now a direct bus from BKK to SR. It leaves from Mo-Chit (Northern bus station) in BKK at 9am. Getting from Suvarnabhumi to Mo-Chit in 1 hour is just not going to happen. Or fly Air Asia: DMK-PNH for $43 later in the day. You will be in PP early afternoon and can take the to SR the next day. Good luck with your planning

Thanks heaps for all your replies

I'm travelling on a tight budget so wanted to avoid paying flight fees and opt for bus/coaches to get me across the country. I was hoping another bus would get me to the border then I could try to route my way across. Gutted that the only bus is at 9am Vegasmike.

Karazyal- thanks for the info...i'll google it.

GavThomas- I'm flying with Emirates from Gatwick and land at 8am! Are you also heading to Siem Reap or are you planning on staying in Thailand for a while?

Pali,
The 9am bus was the direct BKK to SR bus. You can still do this, just a bit more complicated. Here is the on getting to SR. I am not expert on getting around BKK, so do some research on getting to Morchit bus station. Read the guide carefully to get the right bus to the border. Buy your Cambodian visa at Poipet, $20. Have a visa photo. Once in Cambodia, now either bus or share taxi to SR. Decide what is best for you. You should be able to get to SR before dark if you leave BKK by 10am.

You can fly Air Asia to PP for $43. Buses run to SR until at least 8pm, $10-12. That might be a better option if you don't want the hassle of the road trip between BKK-SR. Good luck with your planning.

That's amazing, thank you Vegasmike6. Think I may just print that webpage and take it with me!
