Once again I have managed to make a mess of my travel arrangements.
I have booked flights from the UK with Etihad to Sydney for my family and self.
I now need to book connecting flights from Sydney to Cairns.....yes my wife keeps telling me I should have done it all together
I'm worried if my flight from the UK gets delayed or how do I book our International baggage to domestic flights.
There are 4 of us travelling which includes my 11 year old granddaughter. I don't want it to cost an arm and a leg as I'm from Yorkshire.
Any ideas please guys.
I flew with etihad to Brisbane and booked a connecting flight to cairns from Brisbane with jetstar gave myself 4 hours from landing to the next flight departing and had no problems. International are rarely late from what I've been told and we were almost an hour late leaving Abu Dhabi and still arrived on time in Brisbane. My flight cost around £120 try jetstar or tiger!!

I'm presuming you will be arriving in Sydney via Abu Dhabi either at 18.55 or 07.20?
If it is the 18.55 - you will struggle to get a flight for a reasonable price with anyone - I'd recommend staying the night in Sydney and connecting with a cheap Tiger flight at 06.30 the following morning.
The 07.20 would be much easier as there is a wide choice of flights available...but obviously you will be tied into the arrangements you currently have.
Either way you are looking at a minimum of £400 for four return flights between Sydney and Cairns.
The best bet would be to have a look on a comparison site to weigh up the options. Try Kayak.com or ebookers.com.
As a rule of thumb, I personally would say that a 3 hour window would be the minimum layover that I would allow when connecting to another flight if not booked as one ticket.

Yes its the 07:15 from Abu Dhabi, Im only going one way to Cairns as we are taking a motor home for the return trip. Ill have a butchers and see what i can book and give myself 3 to 4 hours from when we land sounds good to me.

Helpful tip, look on the flight websites in the morning uk time where it will be evening OZ.
Virgin have deals on the evening, and sometimes jet star does weekend sales from friday.
I think Jet has offers on at the moment to Cairns but depends when you are travelling.
For comparison prices another good option is . They are an Australian company and as such their Australian comparisons are very good. Prices from Sydney to Cairns start at around $100 pp - depends on the day you are flying. Generally cheaper if the flight time is really awkward (ie.. midnight)
