10 days is too short to see and experience India. Nonetheless, if you have time constraints, then do land in New Delhi (couple of nights) and take a short visit to Agra (1 N stay at max), then head to Jaipur, Rajasthan to see the many palaces and then on to Jodhpur or Jaisalmer by train. You can spend 2N each in Jaipur & Jaisalmer. You will have to plan and purchase train tickets in advance (go for AC - II class) between New Delhi > Agra, and Agra > Jaipur (AC buses are an alternate), and Jaipur > Jaisalmer.
Typical sightseeing places:
New Delhi: Raj bhavan, the Red Fort, Qutb Minar, India gate, the old markets of Delhi, and Connaught Place
Agra: Taj Mahal, Fatehpur Sikri, Agra Fort
Jaipur: City palace, Hawa Mahal, Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar
Jaisalmer: Golden Fort, the Sam Sand dunes in the desert (half-day trip by cab)
