I feel like there are so many unique things around the country. Are you just interested in activities/events in Melbourne and Sydney? If so, take in an AFL (football) match before the season ends in September. There's always some great graffiti and laneway tours around Melbourne, plus plenty of quirky bars. Likewise, there are always a number of festivals in Melbourne; you should check out the Melbourne Fringe Festival which celebrates new, independent and innovative art.
