Does anyone have an suggestions for must-see towns to stop at between Rome and Venice?
I'd suggest Sirmione at the south end of Lake Garda, a beautiful fortified town and spa with a 13th century castle.
Hi! If you travel by train, why not add the day to Rome or Venice? In addition to interrupting the train travel, you will deal with unpacking and repacking, and end up only with a few hours in the stopover city.
Thank you for the inputs! We've actually decided to not do a stopover--instead doing train direct! And, we're adding Sicily to the trip instead!
