Just a quick question for anyone who has been to Barbados.
Well, right now of course is the top of the hurricane season, and Oct/Nov, even though technically part of the hurricane season should be pretty safe from that point of view, and my guess, very pleasant. I've been there in June and August, when it's much hotter. Oct/Nov should be nice. Nightlife=Bridgetown, the capital, I would guess. And, things to do, well, this is a small island. With a rental car it's very easy to get around and you can easily cover the whole island in one relaxed day. The Atlantic side is quite different from the Caribbean side.
Also just one quick question, I am trying to get from Venezula (Caracas) to Barbados. Are there actually any possible passenger ferries? If so does anyone have a web-site, it would be much appreciated

As for now, there are no ferries to . There is one however from Venezuela to Trinidad as you can read. From there, (short for Leave Island Any Time) flies to Barbados.

Cheers Utrecht, I have actually read the Caribean Ferries info but couldn't find an actual web address for the Ven to Trin line. Also if we can get a ferry to Trin can we not then get a ferry from there to Barb?? Again any help and possible web site addresses would be greatly appreciated , thanks

You are right, I remember I did quite a search for a decent website about that, but couldn't find it either.
You can always try to see if there are yachties going that way or hope that Palm Ferries (link in article, but not working at the moment, I doubt if they still exist) will go there, but I wouldn't hold your breath. I emailde with them a few times out of curiousity and everytime they said that next month the operations would start LOL.
No, unfortunately the Caribbean is a place with small island government working against instead of with eachother. Therefore, planes instead of ferries are the way to go in case of many connections, although a few good and stable connections exist (the ones between Dominica/St. Lucia/Martinique/Guadeloupe for example).
I would certainly advice to fly there, because alternatives are either more expensive or time-consuming..or probably both in this case

As there is not ferry between Trinidad and Barbados, I would try and google for yachts and (if at all) cargoships or for trinidad harbor or port of spain harbor. There are no ferry websites unfortunately.
Although Barbados does have a rainy season, I've been during said rainy season several times and never encountered more than one short, heavy burst of rain. For nightlife, Bridgetown is definitely the best place to go. I've been on one or two lively and fantastic -snip- in Bridgetown.
