What should i pack for my trip in 2 weeks --going to Sydney & Cairns area.
maybe just throw a jumper in and a pair on jeans just to be on the safe side
If you're heading over in the next few weeks I agree with cheap az, hasn't been very warm in Sydney lately, but it should be warm in Cairns!
If you're not heading over in the next few weeks, when are you arriving?
oh man...how cold is it exactly in Sydney? I thought it was supposed to be really warm
I'll be there the first week of November
The prediction for the coming week is for daytime temperatures in Sydney to rise from 20 (now) to 30 degrees Celsius. Having an extra layer to put on during the evenings / early mornings would still be advisable (when it can be as cold as 10-15 degrees), but I wouldn't worry too much about it being "cold" over there.
I'd be expecting mid 20s in Sydney and high 20s to mid 30s in Cairns. It has been windy lately and cold overnight here as Sander said so if you're going out at night then the extra layer will help. You can check the weather on the if that helps.
You should pack things that you can use on your trip to Australia, like clothes that you were comfortable to wear, shoes, and other personal items, also don't forget to bring some digital camera and extra memory card and batteries...
I took a nice warm jacket to Australia, used it once! Oct 07 - Feb 08. But it did rain a lot.
My best advise is, back your backpack, walk around for a bit, unpack it again and see what you can remove, or what you really don't need. e.g Sleeping Bag, and in my case a warm jacket.
Oh and don't forget your passport lol
My boyfriend and I are packing to come on our WH in Oz. We're planning to have just our main backpacks, a surfboard, and camping gear. Well, sleeping bags and a tent...Anyone
Jasonh2015, did you suggest we don't need the bags?
I kinda figured we could leave the jumpers, sweaters, jackets, boots in NZ and get them sent for the winter season at Thredbo. I don't have any rain gear- we'll be travelling up the east coast, do we need it?
Well if your only staying in hostels, then you can't use them anyway! The hostels have strict policys on them. I knew this before I went. The hostel provides fresh sheets for you, it doesn't get very cold in Australia.
As for New Zealand I'm going their next year around June/Aug, from what I know the weather is the same as the UK apart from the summer months. We get rain, they get sunshine.
Hope this helps
